The colonists were sending ships ever where to get muskets and cant after the british had sent more troops to boston after the Boston Tea Party and the so called coercive acts and it is clear that the colonists were pulling together ammunition. Maybe they did not intend to use it but that was a big debate. The king prohibited british ships from taking ammunition and everything to the colonies are less it was officially sanctioned.
