Corinne Saldaña: District No. 5 What is your current or most recent occupation? NISD School Administrator What grade on an A-F scale would you give your district’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Why? “A” because it followed the CDC protocols, was receptive to the ideas and resources that were made available, implemented strategies and options for reaching all students, provided meals for all students, and its teacher corps has performed well beyond any expectations. Do you think your district is doing a good job educating its students? Why or why not? What could it be doing better? I absolutely believe our district is doing a good job. NISD is an extremely large school district that is challenged by such a diverse population that it is difficult to serve all aspects in a first class manner; however, the district to date has made every effort to meet that challenge. In my view, it continues to seek ways to remain one of the best districts in the state. I wish they would work to improve the compensation package and demonstrate greater consistency in the application of school board policies throughout the district.

It is not mandatory and we are not closing Northside schools,” he added.
