Twitter users have had much to say about the portraits he has painted in the past, one of them being his portrait of the late artist Gee Six Five. Gee Six Five was known for her hit single “Obani Lababantu”, and her fans were not impressed with Rastas painting of her, using the title of her single to comment on Rasta’s post, asking him “Obani lababantu?”.

Rasta also painted the late Mshoza. In his twitter post showcasing his painting he tells of the day he met Mshoza, and how she jokingly asked “Are you going to paint me when I’m dead?”. Although Mshoza may have been joking, Rasta was not.

South African painter Rasta, real name Lebani Sirenje, is known for his polarising artwork and once again people are feeling some kind of way about his latest piece.

The formidable and much-loved force that was Gee Six Five entered our lives with her single, 'Obani Lababantu'.
At the age of 65, Olpha Selepe created one of the biggest local hits of 2020.
Unfortunately, just two weeks ago, her niece broke the news of her passing.
Now it was only a matter of time before Rasta would try his hand at immortalising her likeness by painting a Gee Six Five portrait.

Twitter TL provocateur Rasta the Artist rocked the Twitter boat again this week with his latest painting of the late amapiano viral star Gee Six Five.
The nation's most infamous painter took to Twitter to share his latest “masterpiece” in the form of a portrait of the 65-year-old
Obani Lababantu hitmaker.
Olpha Selepe, better known as Gee Six Five who died earlier this month after testing positive for Covid-19, was buried at her home earlier this week.

When Olpha Selepe told her children she wanted to release her own pop song, they pleaded with her not to.
They didn't want to hurt her feelings, but it just wasn't what 65-year-old retired teachers did. Her siblings agreed, urging her to drop the idea. It would be embarrassing for the whole family, they said.
With other people's opinions fresh in her head, she knew there was only one option left.
To record the song in secret.
By the time her family found out what she'd done, the track was already a viral hit - and Selepe, now known across the country by her stage name GeeSixFive, was famous. The song was being shared all over social media, it topped South Africa's iTunes charts, and people across the country were holding her up as an example of it never being too late to achieve your dreams.

Gogo Olpha Selepe, affectionately known as GeeSixFive, has died of Covid-19.
IN the brief period 65-year-old Olpha Selepe was a star, she taught millions to live life to the full.
Her life may have been claimed by Covid-19, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of many!
Tributes continued to pour in for the retired teacher, who was studying for a PhD in higher education at the University of KZN.
Her amapiano song was an instant hit and left a lesson in people’s hearts.
On 23 November
Daily Sun told the story of GeeSixFive – as she was known – introducing herself to Mzansi through her hit song,
