Fullerton Officials Aim to Fix City’s ‘Subpar’ Streets
The streets of Fullerton, California, are in dire need of improvement, according to city officials, and the City Council has become determined to do something about it.
At a recent meeting, both officials and citizens acknowledged the poor state of the city’s streets and emphasized the need to begin fixing the problem as soon as possible.
Mayor Bruce Whitaker told The Epoch Times the condition of his city’s streets has reached an “emergency stage.”
“The subpar condition of our streets is a public safety issue, increasing potential for accidents and injuries, causing undue suffering and substantial litigation costs,” Whitaker said. ....

ECQ effective as COVID-19 reproduction number in NCR goes down to 1.23 -OCTA

The OCTA Research Group on Saturday said the reimposed enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and nearby provinces is “working” as the reproduction number in the bubble went down to 1.23 in the past week from 1.88, before the implementation of strictest lockdown in the region.
In its April 10 report, OCTA said the growth rate for the past week was at -9% while the positivity rate was at 25% in the same period.
The reproduction number refers to the number of people that one COVID-19 case can infect.
While the research group saw a 19% decrease in the average tests done compared to the number of tests conducted a week before the ECQ, it said that the strictest quarantine classification has been effective in reducing the growth rate in Metro Manila. ....

OCTA warns of surge in COVID-19 cases if NCR shifts to MGCQ

The OCTA Research Team on Wednesday warned of a surge in COVID-19 cases if President Rodrigo Duterte approved the National Economic Development Authority’s proposal to place the whole Philippines under the least stringent modified general community quarantine.
In its latest report, OCTA indicated that the proposal for a nationwide shift to MGCQ starting on March 1 was particularly risky for Metro Manila because of the more contagious UK variant of the disease.
[It] is not just risky, but also contrary to sensible epidemic management, OCTA said in its latest report.
“If restrictions in NCR are relaxed to very loose levels, the region will be under a constant threat of a surge due to the increased mobility of people, reduced social distancing and diminished compliance with health protocols, as was observed at the outset of the December holidays,” it added. ....
