CAMP HANSEN, Japan --
When addressing the subjects of technology and innovation in his 2020 statement to the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding Marine Corps readiness, the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. It is about creating the multi-dimensional structures, the cross-functional partnerships, and the innovative culture that can leverage the new technologies to transform how the Marines operate."
To channel this nature of innovation, advancement, and technological warfare, Marines of Defensive Cyberspace Operations-Internal Defensive Measures Company, 7th Communication Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, along with members of the Philippine Marine Corps, conducted an inaugural virtual meeting to identify cyber vulnerabilities and hone their strengths, April 19.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Oregon’s attorney general and a district attorney announced Thursday that a joint investigation will be conducted into the police killing of Robert Delgado in Portland.
The shooting occurred April 16 after a 911 caller reported Delgado had been seen practicing quick-draws in a park with what looked like a pistol but was not pointing it at anyone.

Pamplin Media Group - Portland DA, Oregon AG to jointly investigate Delgado shooting

Portland DA, Oregon AG to jointly investigate Delgado shooting
April 29 2021
The family of the homeless man shot by Portland police had called for the appointment of a special prosecutor.
Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt and Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced on Thursday that their offices will jointly investigate the Portland police shooting death of Robert Douglas Delgado.
In the announcement, Schmidt and Rosenblum said they recognize the importance of always maintaining actual and perceived prosecutorial legitimacy and fairness.
Delgado's family had called for an independent prosecutor to be assigned to the case.
Delgado was killed on April 16 in Lents Park by Portland Police Officer Zachary DeLong, an eight-year veteran of the bureau assigned to East Precinct. Police recovered a replica gun. Delgado's family said he was homeless and had struggled with mental health and addiction issues.

US Police Are Trained for War, Not to Protect Their Communities

Patrick T. Fallon/Reuters
Police are trained as 'warriors' in military-style training that emphasizes shooting without hesitation.
Officers are not equipped to "serve and protect." They are equipped to protect their own lives.

In June of 2020 I was reporting on a protest in downtown Portland, Oregon, when a woman with a machete charged into view and started lunging erratically towards people. I was just a few feet away. Images of the 2017 fatal stabbing of two Portlanders by a right-wing extremist flashed through my head. I was carrying a concealed handgun that day, but I did not draw it. Instead, I watched as several activists, some still half-blind from tear gas, deescalated the woman. It turned out she was homeless and paranoid that members of the crowd might mess with her stuff. People talked her down, and no one was harmed.
