Oregon senators are considering a bill that would incorporate privacy and data security measures within shared IT services in state government, making Oregon one of several states to introduce legislation to address privacy concerns.
Senate Bill 293 would call for the appointment of a privacy officer within the state CIO’s office; the development of a privacy assessment tool for government IT projects; and communication with those whose information has been collected, stored or used as part of state agency IT projects. ....

As Oklahoma data privacy legislation hits roadblock, bill's original co-authors continue to seek hearing | McAfee & Taft

here, we’ve provided updates on the pending Oklahoma Computer Data Privacy Act, House Bill 1602 (HB 1602), which – if passed – would require that businesses receive a consumer “opt-in” for the collection, use, and sale of the information of Oklahoma residents online. This bipartisan legislation had received national press as one of the first such “opt-in” laws in the country, and recently passed the Oklahoma House by a vote of 85 to 11 in early March.
Within the last week, however, the legislation has hit a potentially fatal roadblock in the Oklahoma Senate, as the Senate Judiciary Committee has not scheduled a committee hearing before a critical deadline next week due to opposition from Oklahoma senators. Failure to receive a committee hearing before next week’s legislative deadline means that the bill will not pass this legislative session. ....

In an effort to “lead by example,” Gov. Kevin Stitt received his COVID-19 vaccine – the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine – in front of a group of reporters gathered at a press conference held at the Oklahoma Capitol. Stitt said Oklahoma is one of the first states to reach the point of making all residents age 16 and older eligible, closing in on 2 million doses of vaccine administered since the rollout began three and a half months ago. State and county health departments administered 85% of those vaccines, 11% came from tribal partners and the rest through federal partners, Stitt said.
Oklahoma is doing a phenomenal job of getting the COVID-19 vaccine into people’s arms, but fallout from the disease will remain long after the pandemic ends, health experts said March 26 in a JR/Now webinar.
