'It takes a village': communities across the South Plains are organizing vaccine clinics

Communities across the South Plains are beginning to receive shipments of the COVID-19 vaccines, and are hosting clinics with the resources they have available.
Tim Pierce, executive director of the South Plains Association of Government, says it's a unique undertaking for everyone — he said it's like building an airplane as you're flying it.
To give out second doses, the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum has been transformed into a vaccine clinic for the weekend. Why the museum? Because the museum's auditorium is the largest room in Crosbyton.
Debra Miller is the administrator at the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. The two-bed hospital received about 1,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for the first time last month.

Organizers got the green light this week to move forward with the Hale County Stock Show at the Ollie Liner Center.
After much deliberation, the Hale County Commissioners voted 3-1 to allow the event, which will span four days and typically draws hundreds to watch and/or participate. The event is one of the largest to be approved since COVID-19 activity was first detected and tracked within Hale County in March 2020. Commissioners Kenny Kernell voted against.
The local AgriLife Extension Office originally presented the item at a previous board meeting in November. During the work session for that meeting, concerns were voiced regarding the size of the event. It was tabled and presented again on Monday.
