Thursday’s verdict ended the two-week trial in Brisbane’s Supreme Court of Olympic silver medallist kayaker Nathan Baggaley, 45, and oyster farmer Dru, 39. Both had pleaded not guilty. The jury retired to decide its verdict on Wednesday and returned at 4pm on Thursday to seal the fate of the brothers, who would be sentenced during the week beginning April 19. Dru and boat driver Anthony Draper were arrested on July 31, 2018, after a dramatic chase off the NSW northern coast involving a surveillance plane, a navy ship and a RAAF plane, before it was ended by specialist heavily-armed SERT officers on a Queensland Water Police vessel.
