The judges say China's new national security law has made their role on highest court untenable.
The British government announces the withdrawal of its judges over opposition to China’s national security law.
Following discussions with the UK government, two UK Supreme Court judges on Wednesday resigned from their roles in the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal (HKCFA).
Britain said Wednesday that it is withdrawing its judges from Hong Kong's top court because keeping them there would "legitimize oppression" in the former British colony.
They had served on the territory’s highest court, part of an arrangement to retain links to the common law world after Hong Kong returned to China.
