Denver Broncos Aaron Rodgers Trade Patrick Surtain Update

The NFL draft, which kicked off yesterday, April 29, is a hopeful time for terrible teams such as your Denver Broncos, with fans fantasizing about a return to glory led by a new quarterback — either a ballyhooed rookie or veteran signal caller who could jump-start the squad in a manner similar to Peyton Manning, whose acquisition in 2012 resulted in two Super Bowl trips and one league championship during a spectacular four-year run.
Both prospects seemed like very real possibilities. In the hours prior to the draft, multiple reports surfaced that Denver was about to acquire Green Bay Packers signal caller Aaron Rodgers, a guaranteed future Hall of Famer, in what might have been an even bolder stroke than the deal involving Manning, who, after all, was coming off a severe neck injury. And when that didn't happen, the Broncos had a chance to use their number-nine pick on one of two much-touted QBs: Ohio State's Justin Fields, whom many prognosticators rated the second-best hurler available, and Alabama's Mac Jones.

Cowboys 2021 mock draft tracker: We found some mocks that don't have Patrick Surtain as the pick

Cowboys 2021 mock draft tracker: We found some mocks that don’t have Patrick Surtain as the pick
Even though there’s a consensus mock pick for the Cowboys, there are some outliers.

It’s Friday, so it’s time for our latest mock draft tracker. This year, unlike almost any year in recent memory, the Cowboys seemed locked into one player for their pick at 10, at least if you buy what the mock drafts are selling.
Almost everybody is on the Patrick Surtain II train. It makes sense. The Cowboys defense was awful in 2020. They let Chidobe Awuzie walk in free agency, opening up a spot at outside corner. Surtain has about as high of a floor as you will find among prospects in this draft.

2021 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: 49ers pick Trey Lance - Sports Illustrated

Apr 13, 2021
Every year, colleagues Jenny Vrentas, Albert Breer and I battle it out for mock draft supremacy. Every year, I end up going first, which is all right with me. (Technically, Albert got a head start this year with his early iteration, but he’ll have another one the week of the draft.) First is sometimes preferred, as waiting too long gets you sucked into the misinformation spiral. Last is difficult because the consensus begins to come back around, though probably not in enough time to rescue a board that looks more like a tangled Jacob’s ladder by then.
