The fact that this qualifies as big news reveals how we are smack in the middle of the dead season for the NFL. The release of the schedule is a non-event. We already knew all the Jets opponents and which games were home games and which were road games. The only thing revealed were the order, game times and the London trip, which mean close to nothing in the grand scheme of things. ....
The New York Jets claimed running back Austin Walter off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers and waived running back Pete Guerriero on Thursday. Walter played in four games last season with the 49ers, his second stint with the team, and had one run for 3 yards and a 27-yard reception. Walter has familiarity with new Jets coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur from their time together in San Francisco. ....
Jets claim RB Austin Walter off waivers The Jets have claimed running back Austin Walter off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers. We ve claimed RB Austin Walter and waived RB Pete Guerriero. New York Jets (@nyjets) May 13, 2021 Walter played in four games for the 49ers in 2020 and was mainly used as a special teamer. He averaged over 10 special teams snaps in the games he played. This included 5 kickoff returns for 93 yards. He played sparingly on offense registering 1 carry for 3 yards. He also had a single reception, which went for 27 yards. Walter spent most of the season bouncing between the active roster and the practice squad for San Francisco. This seems like a classic case of bringing in a guy who knows the system. ....

I hope you’re all having a great start to the day! Rookie RB Michael Carter expressed that he believes Zach Wilson should have been the first overall selection in the NFL Draft in an interview in a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview. Despite the initial statement sounding ‘homerish’, Carter does have a point. PFF gave Zach Wilson the highest passing grade to a collegiate quarterback ever in 2020, and Wilson finished in the top five in nearly every major passing category that same year. Sure, his prior seasons weren’t anything to marvel over, but growth is a very important development in any prospect making his way to the NFL. With a decent cast surrounding him in New York, perhaps Wilson can show that he was deserving to be the 1st overall selection after all. Only time will tell at this point. With that, he ....
