Drop Nineteens returned earlier this month with "Hard Light", their first new album in thirty years. So, Under the Radar caught up with founder member, singer and guitarist Greg Ackell.
Back in ’92 Drop Nineteens were a glowing star in the small constellation of the British shoegaze scene. The catch being that the Boston natives were, of course, not British at all.
With Hard Light, Drop Nineteens seem to have emancipated themselves from the artistic and commercial parameters they likely felt corralled by in the 1990s. Replete with the prerequisite blankets of fuzz, the set is also, in places, notably buoyant.
