(Archived document, may contain errors) 142 May 14, 1981 THE INFANT FORMULA CONTROVERSY INTRODUCTION The running controversy over infant formula promotion and sales in the Third World moves into a new phase this month as the World Health Assembly meets in Geneva to consider the adoption of a code r egulating the marketing of breast milk substitutes. The proposed International Code of Marketing for Breastmilk Substitutes has drawn criticism from industry and government.
