this is peterjuvenal, one of the world's most famous combat cameramen. he's specialised in reporting on afghanistan ever since 1979, but he's put his camera aside and is nowadays a businessman. last december, he was arrested in kabul and accused of spying. it took six months of pressure and campaigning to get him free, which happened just over a week ago. peter and i have worked together countless times, notably in 2001, when we disguised ourselves in burqas to get into taliban territory. he's famously brave and stoical, but how did he respond to six months in an afghanjail? we are actually viewing a property in street 15 and someone in the neighbouring house asked us what we were doing and we produced our picture, our letter from the ministry of commerce.

and the afghans were continuing to tell me, we want to have relations with the west, but as partners, we have to identify those progressive afghans within the taliban and support them. will you go back to afghanistan? yes, i look forward to. i spent a0 years there. i've got lots of friends there. i've made new friends now. and you wouldn't be nervous about going back? no, no. never nervous in afghanistan. what happened to me is just another chapter, because if we don't help afghanistan, it's going to get worse. we're going to have more refugees coming to europe. so the only thing you can do is engage with them in a positive manner. and i would like to be part of that. peterjuvenal — free after six months in a taliban prison. we still don't know the details of the negotiations to get him and the other british prisoners released. but it does look as though the relationship between britain and the taliban, which you might expect would be violently hostile, is now moderately friendly.

that there hasn't been enough progress. one of the notable things that we saw in the hirak movement is how much resonance there was back to the 60 years back to the independence movement, the slogans, the values, the messaging was very much this revolution that we carried out against the french. it's still unfinished, and we still have to make and create the algeria that our forefathers fought for. this is peterjuvenal, one of the world's most famous combat cameramen. he's specialised in reporting on afghanistan ever since 1979, but he's put his camera aside and is nowadays a businessman. last december, he was arrested in kabul and accused of spying. it took six months of pressure and campaigning to get him free, which happened just over a week ago. peter and i have worked together countless times,
