Police seek man who made his way into Waterford Township home after posing as DTE employee Scammer attempted to steal money from victim Tags: DETROIT – Police in Waterford Township are searching for a man wanted in connection with a DTE scam. According to police, on Jan. 5 at around 3 p.m. a man approached an elderly woman at her home and identified himself as a DTE employee. The man told the woman he needed to come inside the home to shut her power off for a short period. He then stated that DTE would pay her $48 for the inconvenience. Police say the man put $100 on the table and asked the woman if she had $50 to make it even.
