Caraga police ops net 376 law violators; 49 NPA rebels surrender

BUTUAN CITY - The Police Regional Office in Caraga Region (PRO-13) said 376 law violators were arrested during the conduct of a one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in the region on Saturday. The operations by the different police stations and units also resulted in the surrender of 49 New People's Army (NPA) rebels in the area. Of the 376 law violators arrested, 196 were wanted persons, 22 were nabbed over illegal drugs, 28 for loose firearms, and 130 for the illegal logging, fishing, and gambling. A total of 217 assorted firearms composed of 14 light weapons and 203 small arms, as well as 10 explosives, were confiscated during the implementation of 35 search warrants for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Likewise, a total of 12 search warrants for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were also served in 10 buy-bust operations that resulted in the confiscation of 227.601 grams of shabu and 33.4 grams of marijuana with a total estimated value of PHP1,551,694. "The overwhelming success of the recently concluded SACLEO is attributed to the strong commitment and determination of every Caraga police in serving and protecting the country and the people," PRO-13 director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat said in a press statement on Sunday. He also assured the residents of Caraga Region that operations against criminals and law violators and the accounting of loose firearms in the region will continue. "PRO-13 will continue to intensify its anti-criminality operations especially now that the 2022 election is fast approaching. Caraga police will take all the necessary measures for the public to exercise their right to suffrage freely and peacefully," Caramat said. (PNA) }

Boquiren formally assumed his new position during a change of command ceremony held on Monday at the Camp Vicente L. Pimentel Sr. in Tandag City. Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., director of Police Regional Office in Caraga Region, facilitated the turnover activity between Boquiren and outgoing SDSPPO chief, Col. James Goforth. "I am thankful to the men and women of SDSPPO for their support during my term as their director," Goforth told the Philippine News Agency on Monday. He also extended his appreciation for the continuing support of the provincial government and the different local government units, the line agencies, and the various stakeholders. Goforth has been the director of SDSPPO since Oct. 23, 2019. During his term, Goforth has been awarded various recognitions, including as the Best Police Commissioned Officer for Operations. The SDSPPO was also named Best Performing Unit in 2021 on the campaign against illegal gambling, illegal logging, and loose firearms. "My new assignment will be at the PRO-13 headquarters," Goforth said but declined to elaborate. Boquiren, for his part, was the chief of the Regional Operations Division of PRO-13 before his new assignment. HPG cop nabbed for alleged extortion inside headquarters

BUTUAN CITY – A police officer assigned at the Highway Patrol Group Team (HPGT) in Agusan del Norte was arrested in an entrapment operation Monday morning, May 24 inside the HPG headquarters in Cabadbaran City.
Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr., director of Police Regional Office in Caraga Region (PRO-13), identified the arrested cop as PSSg. Ronelo G. Tering-Tering, a resident of Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
“The operation stemmed from the complaint of a businesswoman who disclosed that the aforesaid personnel demanded P20,000 in exchange for the release of her impounded mini-dump truck. After negotiation, the amount was lowered to P5,000.00,” Caramat said in a statement Monday.
