Big numbers or people feel like being at home is not going to be the safest place for them? we ve been in close contact with governor hochul. she and her team have been very helpful providing resources, but that is the biggest concern. if you lose power here, you lose heat, that s a dangerous situation when you re looking at temperatures that are going to be with windchills below zero at this point for tonight. so we ve encouraged people to call our 311 hotline if they do lose heat or power. fortunately, the power numbers, the outages have been low at this point, which is very good, and we ve got to continue to monitor that because it is a life-threatening situation when you re talking about temperatures this low. indeed. all right. steve bellone, suffolk county new york executive, thank you so much. all the best to you and everybody there in suffolk county, long island. thank you. all right. ....
Power numbers. the governor has been some good news within the last 10 minutes. the numbers dropped again. we re at 28,000 28,531 outages as of this moment. this is a remarkable outcome when you look at the damage that has been impacted across our commonwealth. so approximately 95% of potentially impacted power lines have been assessed. that s a big thing. in most of these events, the power companies can t get to the lines even to perform the assessments. 95% have been completed. there is some bad news with the good news. there are still 29 transmission lines, the lines that feed from the power plants. if you recall in the ice storm you saw collapse of these massive towers that run across our state. we have had that. and the restoration will be weeks to months for these. so we ll have a small number ....
