Commute. Giant generators were brought into the caldecott tunnel, a major traffic route in the east bay. Caltrans had to figure out how to keep the tunnel lights and fans on or face a traffic nightmare. The tunnels themselves have a very large fans that circulate to make sure that the exhaust from the cars are actually taken out of the tunnels. This morning, we have new aerial video to show you of this firefight. This is burning in a remote part of the merit island preserve on the southwestern tip of the preserve. It is not threatening any buildings or homes on merit island. It is an air are i cant that is step with heavy brush and veg taig, its been difficult to access some of the fire.
