Republican candidate there, predenying results of the election. how does a republican party function in a two party system if all results in which you lose are some way fraudulent? you don t. you may have noticed the republicans that win say they were the result of perfectly run elections. to be fair, people challenged legitimacy of the 2016 election. we have done this before. bush v gore and all of that in 2000. we have been testing after the election the election results for a very long time indeed but it has to stop because the american people want other things than government than process arguments of the sort we re having. the republican party can t talk about things people are interested in until they quit talking about this stuff and stop the steal and all the rest. george, your book looks at the last 13 years, collection of ....

Government apparatus to go through this process but if he does, that s how it s going to go, jim. that is fascinating. another viewer wants to know if governor cuomo fights the allegations against him. what do you think the defenses will be that he ll raise in all of this? we heard from the defense attorney a few moments ago. what do you think? we got a preview and then some yesterday from the defense team. first of all, they raised these political arguments. this is all some effort to get the governor. i m not buying that. these are all democrats, essentially. governor cuomo was the one who referred the case over to the attorney general in the first place. and then they have these process arguments that they ve not been given access to the transcript and background of these interviews. there s some legitimacy. there s little beyond the actual report which all of us have and most importantly, it s the credibility arguments, the substantive arguments and thus far, i find those reall ....

all right. so, some technical issues from the governor s legal team here. we ll get you to them as soon as they figure that out. erica hill, what we ve heard from paul fishman thus far, this case of there not being basic fairness, a lot of this we didn t get a transcript, they have not released some of these details. we ve got paula reid here as well. my apology for not introducing paula reid. your first take on what we ve heard. luckily, too, paula reid s a recovering attorney so we get to tap into that legal mind. is this going to be compelling, right, to the average new yorker that they didn t get the kind of discovery that they wanted, that this wasn t the process that these defense attorneys had hoped it would be? i mean, this is an unusual way to use the national spotlight to defend their client. they re basically making process arguments. these are procedural arguments, but no one so far in this press availability, they re clearly having technical issues, they ....

Conspiracy theory that all of these women are somehow lying, that tish james office has an ax to grind. and you saw little threads there throughout of this big conspiracy theory, everybody s against governor cuomo. i thought it fell really flat, and i don t think it s going to work. elie, why would the new york attorney general withhold the full transcripts of the interviews in this investigation? why aren t we seeing more, and what is your view of the overall defense? yeah, pam. so the first takeaway is governor cuomo is not going without a fight here. there was some speculation will he be resigning, is this going to be dragged out? he is going to fight this tooth and nail all the way till the end. the first argument is a process argument. i don t think we should be dismissive of their process arguments. governor cuomo s attorneys, this is a one-sided fight so far. the investigators, and i know joon kim, he s an excellent lawyer, but they have not turned over really if many mater ....

Coming from someone like senator murkowski who is known to be fairly independent-minded? she s a bit of a wildcard. so it s hard to say. susan collins is probably the most vulnerable senate republican. and when chuck schumer, the democratic leader, came out with his demands on the process, she didn t go along with it. she said chuck schumer s play upset her. as long as he s able to keep people like susan collins, cory gardner, martha mcsally in arizona in check, i think he s okay. he has the process arguments in history on his side. all that mitch mcconnell was asking for is the same order of operations in process that 100 senators voted for 21 years ago, that is, allow the house to come over and make its arguments, hear from the managers and then later decide about witnesses. he s not ruling out witnesses entirely. he s saying let s get to those later. i think he has all the ground to stand on. as long as he continues to have what i think is a relatively reasonable position, he ll b ....
