NBA: Hachimura helps the Wizards win Game 4 and avoid sweep by 76ers

Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images The Wizards avoided the sweep with an entertaining 122-114 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Second-year forward Rui Hachimura produced his best game in weeks — 20 points and a career-high 13 rebounds — to lead the team to its first post-season win of 2021. Hachimura scored efficiently — he had an offensive rating (points produced per individual possession x 100) of 147 and he scored 20 on a 12.5% usage rate. He also had several possessions of solid on-ball defense that helped secure the win. Davis Bertans broke out of his slump with 15 points (includi...

The Wizards went 5-3 since the last one with wins against the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers (x2), and losses to the Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks. As you’ll in the table below, most of the rotation maintained their general level of production. Bradley Bea...

The weird, wild and entertaining Russell Westbrook

The weird, wild and entertaining Russell Westbrook Share this story Photo by Patrick McDermott/Getty Images In my last Player Production Average update, the Wizards were four games into what would become an eight-game winning streak. Unsurprisingly for a team that won four of five since, several players in the rotation had significant production increases. Biggest improvers among rotation players: Daniel Gafford — 128 to 144 — +14 Raul Neto — 78 to 87 — +9 Bradley Beal — 154 to 160 — +6 Davis Bertans — 75 to 81 — +6 Beal’s jump is the most impressive because he added 6 point...

NBA: A sober assessment of Hachimura and the Wizards overall - Vimarsana News

NBA: A sober assessment of Hachimura and the Wizards overall

Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images I swear I’m not picking on Rui Hachimura. He’s drawn my attention because I’m seeing a mismatch between what the team and its fans are saying about him and what he’s accomplishing on the court. The Narrative is that he’s making a leap, perhaps The Leap. Yet in the 9 games since my last full season Player Production Average (PPA) update, his overall performance has declined. Red line = full season PPA after each game. Blue line = 10-game rolling average PPA. In PPA, average is 100 and higher is better. Kevin Broom
