The International Criminal Court announced it was investigating possible war crimes in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In the first war crimes case, in 1474, Burgundian knight Sir Peter von Hagenbach led a campaign of terror on innocent civilians that ended in a precedent-setting judgment.
