"It was a pleasant Sunday morning in Honolulu, Dec. 7, 1941," writes Ross Eric Gibson. "When hundreds of small planes appeared over Pearl Harbor at 7:45 a.m., some thought it might be a new American aircraft on a training flight from California. Then the first bombs landed at 7:48 a.m., showing it was an attack."
