Anthony kennedy joining the liberals, the Supreme Court yesterday struck down a controversial law in texas that had forced over half of the states abortion clinics to shut down. Passed in 2013, the law stated abortion clinics must meet the same building standards as walkin surgical centers. It also required doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, but the Supreme Court ruling yesterday said that neither of these provisions offers medical benefits sufficient to justify the burdens upon access that each imposes.
