Biden Nominates Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for Prominent Position Within Democratic Party President-elect Joe Biden nominated Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for a leadership role with the Democratic National Committee on Thursday. TODAY December 20, 2020 Joe Biden reportedly offered Keisha Lance Bottoms a position in his cabinet, which the Atlanta mayor turned down. “Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms was honoured to have been offered a role in the Cabinet, which she respectfully declined,” Rashad Taylor, Bottoms’ senior advisor, said in a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It isn’t clear which position Bottoms was offered, or why she turned it down. “The Mayor’s focus remains on the people of Atlanta and the great state of Georgia,” Taylor continued. “Out of respect for the process, and the other candidates under consideration, no additional comment will be forthcoming on this matter at this time.” ....
Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) was among Joe Biden’s earliest endorsers, and she was expected to be offered a White House role in return. As many of supporters have noted, she was on Biden’s long list for VP and short list to head HUD and SBA. Instead, she was reportedly offered a role as the U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas, which she declined.
