I can see why VW is not giving a separate option to the driver for regenerative braking. As EV companies start to expand their EV portfolios, they want to make the driving experience of an EV as close to driving an ICE vehicle. Which means, among other things, an acceleration and deceleration profile similar to a mass market ICE vehicle.
My Niro EV has a 201hp motor and three driving modes for acceleration. The staidest one - ECO - accelerates close to how a gasoline engine does. On the deceleration front, the Niro has regen built into the brake pedal. Additionally there are four regen modes - 0 through 3. Zero means no regen and the vehicle coasts when you let your foot off the gas . Three gives full regen independent of your braking profile. Regenerative agriculture has really picked up momentum in recent years. This approach of ecologically intensive farming relies as much as possible on working with nature instead of external inputs. So where does technology fit into this model? That’s the question I asked Dr. Jonathan Lundgren, director of the Ecdysis Foundation and CEO of Blue Dasher Farm.
Lundgren… “I think first off the principles have to be adhered to, right. We have to have a very firm understanding of conservation, soil, etc. And within that framework, there s going to be opportunities to make life easier, and technology is going to be able to do that. India s Vasudha Swaraj, the agricultural arm of Pratibha Syntex Ltd, a vertically integrated, sustainability-oriented manufacturer of knitted textiles and garments, has engaged 1,000 farmers in the cultivation of regenerative organic cotton.
The intent behind regenerative organic cotton (ROC) cultivation is to emphasise farming practices that restore and build soil, ensure animal welfare, and render fair conditions for farmers and farmworkers.
In a bid to increase farmer income and improvise soil health, Vasudha Swaraj promoted multi-cropping techniques. With multi-cropping and inter-cropping, while farmers receive additional crop and additional income from the same farmland, the carbon nutrient in the soil is also increased resulting in increasing arability of the farms lands, the company explains.
