Scientists Claim World's First Living Robots Can Now Reproduce

From the “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” file in the “Didn’t We See This in a Movie?” section comes word that the scientists who created the world’s first living robots (Did you miss that story? We’ll fill you in.) called xenobots have put them together in a container and they’re now reproducing. Was a xenobot. Read more » ....

Researchers Behind First Living Robot Found a Way to Make It Reproduce

Xenobots are made from the stem cells of the African clawed frog, which allow them to move around and pile up smaller cells that form into new Xenobots. ....

"Exploring helicase dynamics in bacterial DNA replication: a single-mol" by Richard Spinks

Bacterial DNA replication is a potential novel antibiotic target in the fight against increasing anti-microbial resistance. To fully explore those opportunities, a full understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying DNA replication is required. The components of the bacterial replisome, the multi-protein machinery responsible for replication, have been characterised extensively over the past 60 years, largely relying on the E. coli model system. However, the intricacies of the nucleo-protein network of the replisome and the complexity of its molecular steps have impeded our ability to produce a complete picture of the replication process. One E. coli replisomal component, the DnaB replicative helicase, has as a clear function to catalyse the unwinding of duplex DNA at the front of the replication fork. This component is also suspected to play other regulatory roles, given its extensive contacts with the primase and polymerase enzymes within the replisome. This thesis focusses on ....

Pan-coronavirus medications, that is, they work against all variants because they don t work on the surface in spike protein, they work on the machinery of replication. todd: very quickly, do you think it s here? i think it s here. it s probably in dozens of countries around the world right now. carley: so florida, here s another topic we wanted to get to, they reported, listen to this, the lowest number of covid-19 cases and deaths per capita in the nation. we have a chart of how many that is. look at florida, 27 cases per 100,000, michigan the second highest, 388. that s important because florida governor ron de santis has been routinely criticized for keeping the state open. why are we seeing such a disparity there between florida having the lowest number and some states like michigan who shut down having higher case counts? well, part of it carl hey is seasonal carl hey is seasonal ....

Sequence this variant and provide amazing information to the world so quickly. it s an amazing feat. the network for genomic surveillance in south africa, for example. what they show is that this is a virus now with at least 50 mutations, many of them spanning the previous variants of concern. alpha, beta, gamma and delta. at least 30 mutations in the spike protein alone that we know lead to immune invasion and escape and also increased replication so this is what makes it so concerning to us. what we hear again and again from health experts over the past 48 showers we don t know too much about this variant but people should get a vaccine or a booster if they have already had their first two shots, but here you re saying it s possible, even likely, that this could elude the vaccine, so how do you reconcile those two statements? yeah. look, i think, paula, you know, we have to go through a couple of weeks yet of uncertainty. there are three questions we ....
