Tragedies of vice president biden he s had to deal with. the loss of his wife and children. i mean, he s gone through what you never want a husband or father to have gone through. and i think last night when sarah huckabee came out and did it first of all, i agree you never do it no matter what the circumstances. but joe biden was trying to relate to people out there who he connects with on a daily basis. and that s what makes him strong. i go back to what i said in the earlier segment. from the day joe biden got in this race, his issue has been i am the most electable. i can bring people back into this party. i can get democrats and republicans. then i can lead. it s compassion, it s empathy. it is joe biden by far his strongest suit. and i think it, you know, helped him very much last night in the debate to relate to folks. and i think it was a huge mistake by sara huckabee to do ....
Has come under criticism and in some ways is justified is when comments like, you know, i can work with republicans because they know me and respect me. well, he served as vice president to barack obama for eight years. imminently likable person, i think. someone who attempted several times to extend the olive bramplg to the other side. and on the very evening of his inauguration, the majority leader in the senate and his colleagues, you know, basically said we re going to make this guy a one-term president and did everything to accomplish that mission all the way up to denying the president of the united states his constitutional ability to appoint a supreme court justice and have that justice reviewed, evaluated, and then voted on. and so i think a lot of us said, look. that s a little polyanish. that being said, i think the vice president does have really an uncanny ability to sort of bring down the layers of discourse. ....
why? how popular? 71% of americans 65% of republicans in this country want to see john bolton and mick mulvaney testify. if that s the discussion, that is a winning issue for democrats even if the process might seem unseemly to them. and you have to take in account that until you consider that the president is arguing for a trial now, until you understand that he is putting pressure on mitch mcconnell, i don t think you fully understand what nancy pelosi gets out of it. and he s dug his heels in. and who knows what will happen over the next two weeks. maybe the president will finally be convinced he should listen to mitch mcconnell and this will work out sooner rather than later for him. but for now, you re right. he absolutely thinks he should be vindicated and he wants this to be a big show trial. i think what s also interesting is that you really for the first time in a long time, you see the two leaders really at it, right? you have nancy pelosi taking on mitch mcconnel ....
Reminded at this point last year there was a real debate within the democratic party as to whether she should be the leader. and imagine if anybody else who had been more of a neophyte and younger taking on this unique situation, i m not sure anybody else would have had the gravitas to do that. so she really is the right person at the right time. this was handed to her unexpectedly in the sense they did not think they would get this much pushback from republicans. but here they are. i think about that all the time. that there was a compelling argument back then for new blood. out with the old. and now the fact that she has been this masterful chess player through all of this, it just seems it s impossible to imagine that somebody else the president really elevated her. she s at the top of they are game, one could argue. i think given all of these hurdles in the past few months, she s really taken command of the party, of her caucus, and you hear from every single person you talk ....
It. we ve just got to move away from these personal insults. the president does it every single day. it was disgrace what he did about john dingell the other day. we ve got to bring this nation together. but i think that you ve touched on something, governor. mayor, i want your take on it. i think for a lot of people right now because they re so firmly entrenched in their camps, they don t like the idea of building a bridge with republica republicans as democrats think they re evil. so sometimes joe biden is dinged for his statements that he would work with republicans. do you think that it would hurt that it hurts him when he says those things? well, i will say i even saw sort of a rare moment where twitter sort of got off of the bandwagon of attacking the other side and complimented sarah huckabee sanders for what she did. i think where the vice president ....
