Major food allergens: Sesame added to FDA's list; manufacturers must now include a warning on product labels
Sesame has been designated a major food allergen by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a result of the FASTER Act signed by President Biden in April 2021. Food manufacturers must now including a warning on the labels of any products that contain sesame seeds or oil. They also prevent allergen cross-contact at food manufacturing facilities.
