Members of the judiciary to my cabinet and my wonderful family. Thank you for being here tonight. And my fellow Rhode Islanders. Tonight i stand with all of you filled with optimism for our future. We work hard together digging our way out of the deep economic hole. And now we are prepared for Rhode Islanders for success in a fast changing economy. Right now in rhode island. We have more than half a million jobs in our state. Thats more jobs than we ever have in our states history. [ applause ] our unemployment is the lowest it has been in three decades now i want you to think about that. That means that our economy is as strong today as it has been in a generation. Whats going on . We know it has not always been that way. Actually just a few years ago, it was not that way. Whats different . W

Unwavering commitment to make sure that the special counsel cannot be fired, that this investigation cannot be a victim of political interference. The president has indicated that he is averse to hearing about russia or considering its threat to this country. That aversion certainly sets back his ability to defend this country against the russian threat through sanctions and other means and deterrence that will assure that russia is made to pay a price so they do not do it again. In conclusion, let me just say that aversion must be overcome. We need to send a signal, as we did by passing sanctions, that we will take action against russia to stop it from interfering again in this election, that we will make sure that russia is made to pay a price, and that our constituents know that we will insist on a fair and independent investigation without political interference, passing legislation that is bipartisan. [ applause ] you know, four years ago, our Unemployment Rate was the highest in america. Today its in line with the national average. The number of people filing for Unemployment Insurance last year was the lowest it has been in 50 years. [ applause ] and our economy has more jobs than at nearly any other time in our states history. [ applause ] weve cut our deficit in half, t. F. Green is booming, and we are the first state in america to teach Computer Science in every public school. [ applause ] and its not
