With weekly and monthly tests, a breathless routine destroys the child’s search for meaning in what is taught. This failure needs a broader remedy
The report based on the second edition of TISS’s ‘State of Teachers, Teaching and Teacher Education Report for India’ (SOTTTER) survey was released this week. Here are 5 broad takeaways.
The study shows changing pattern of rainfall in India. Rainfall during the southwest monsoon went up in 55% of India’s tehsils, but mainly due to heavy, short-duration rainfall, often causing flash floods. Certain regions also saw a surge in northeast monsoon rainfall. The economic and ecological implication of these changes are highlighted.
While the government has been emphasising on multidisciplinary, holistic education, the TISS report has pointed out that there is a great level of paucity of teachers for subjects such as physical education, music and art.
