Am Samstagabend, 10. Juli 2021, um neun Uhr, ist ein heftiges Gewitter verbunden mit Starkregen über den Kanton Schwyz gezogen.
Bei der Kantonspolizei Schwyz gingen bis Mitternacht rund zwei Dutzend Meldungen wegen Wassereinbrüchen in Häusern und überfluteten Strassen ein. Besonders stark betroffen waren die Gemeinden Lauerz, Steinen und Goldau.
Die Strasse zwischen Lauerz und Seewen musste bis am Sonntagmorgen sieben Uhr gesperrt werden. In Steinerberg wurde ein Jungwachtlager in eine Zivilschutzunterkunft evakuiert. Die Feuerwehren mussten in die Ortschaften Seewen, Lauerz, Steinen, Steinerberg, Goldau, Gersau, Pfäffikon und Feusisberg ausrücken.
