A concert featuring Chicagoland songwriters in downtown Hobart Sunday will raise money for the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana at a time when it's been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. The 2021 Songwriters Circle for Critters will take place at the Annual Tom Lounges' Charity Birthday Bash from 5to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hobart Art Theater at 230 Main St. in downtown Hobart. Green Door Books is writing its next chapter. The used bookstore, known for its art shows, $1 books, extensive zine library and namesake green door, is moving to a bigger spot in downtown Hobart after the local chain Toys in the Attic bowed out.

Giovanni Taliaferro, the Director of Memorabilia Design for Hard Rock International, gave a guided tour of music memorabilia tied to the Jackson family on Wednesday. Crown Point's Bulldog Park Pavilion (183 S. West St.) again features live music performances through the summer and fall months. Some, in tandem to the city's Thursday afternoon Classic Car Cruises, feature the bands Soundz Of Santana, Mellencougar, Oscar & The Majestics, The Relics, Blues Fuse, among others. Taste of Crown Point on July 16 and 17 has tribute acts Echoes of Pompeii and The MegaBeatles, headlining respectively.
