The Supreme Court hears oral argument Tuesday in a case that will determine whether a 2018 law gave prisoners a chance to reduce unfairly long sentences for possessing the smallest amounts of crack cocaine.
The bipartisan group of senators who championed the law have told the justices in a brief that they aimed to give everyone sentenced for crack cocaine possession under an old tough-on-drugs law a chance to get their sentence reduced. ....

Well, that’s 100 days of the Biden administration and 558 days to go before the 2022 midterms, but who’s counting? 
President Joe Biden offered his highlights Wednesday from his first months in the Oval Office (vaccines, COVID-19 relief legislation). More importantly, he outlined his agenda ahead, including sweeping new government investments in education and child care, as well as tax increases on companies and well-to-do Americans to help pay for it. All promise to become fodder for the midterm campaigns.    ....

One of the lesser-known aspects of the SolarWinds hack that lawmakers and top U.S. cybersecurity officials are grappling with is figuring out how many American companies and federal agencies have been affected. 
At present, no one knows.
This blind spot stems from the absence of a federal breach notification law that requires companies and federal agencies to notify the U.S. government if they have been hacked. That, however, may be about to change as congressional committees learn more about the SolarWinds hack and lawmakers in both chambers have signaled a bipartisan willingness to consider the idea.  ....
