The winners of the 42nd annual AWARD Awards were announced this afternoon at a live-streamed virtual ceremony celebrating the most outstanding creative advertising in the Asia Pacific region. CHE Proximity has been named Agency Network of the Year; Revolver has taken out Production Company of the Year and NRMA won Marketing Team of the Year.
A total of 58 Gold pencils were awarded across 25 different campaigns, with a further 58 Silver and 117 Bronze pencils awarded.
CHE Proximity, which took home eight Gold pencils – four each for its First Saturday and Where Babies Come From campaigns – was crowned Agency Network of the Year. This is the first time this award has been handed out in its new form following a major overhaul of the AWARD Awards in 2020 which repositioned the Network of the Year category to recognise specific agency brands instead of holding companies as in past years.

Campaign developed by Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
Women’s Work, a collective of women New Zealand photographers, admit that you won’t have seen their campaign before seeing their case study – because frankly, it never ran.
It may sound nonsensical, however it’s a calculated approach to get the Collective’s challenging message directly in the faces of advertising agencies and their creative departments.
The case study film features the previously unseen campaign of 24 posters that highlight the disturbing fact that of all the photography used in advertising less than 15% is shot by women.
It then goes further by calling out agencies, asking them to start deliberately and consciously put women photographers on their shortlists for future projects.

The challenge facing Mark Cochrane is in some ways mathematical. He s entering a business that employed in excess of 150 people in its heyday but now sits at around 55. Saatchi and Saatchi might still be the most famous name in New Zealand advertising pop culture, but the 2021 edition of Campaign Magazine s much-maligned Hot and Cold chart showed the agency languishing in the middle of the pack when it comes to annual billings (under $50 million), well behind the creative top dogs DDB, FCB, Colenso BBDO and Stanley St (each more than $100m).
