Ban on fires at Phoenix parks goes into effect
PHOENIX - A ban on fires at city parks, including desert parks and mountain preserves, went into effect on Saturday.
The city of Phoenix enabled the ban due to the drought and arrival of warmer temperatures.
In consultation with the Phoenix Fire Department, smoking and charcoal fires are included in the ban due to the extreme fire danger that the combination of low humidity, increased temperatures, excessive dry vegetation, and frequent high winds create each spring, stated officials.

Name change for Valle?
Most people traveling to the south rim of the Grand Canyon pass through Valle and residents want to rename the community so tourists know the national park is just up the road and business owners hope it will help the small town stand out on maps.
VALLE, Ariz. - A heavily traveled highway junction near Arizona’s most well-known tourist attraction could be getting a new name if some residents have their say.
Most people headed to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim pass through Valle, an unincorporated community known for decades for a roadside attraction with a Flintstones motif that’s now a raptor ranch. Still, a sign stands tall welcoming visitors with a Yabba Dabba-Doo.

Best water parks in Arizona: Oasis Water Park, Hurricane Harbor

It s that time of year again: Weeks of 100-degree days are just around the corner, and residents of metro Phoenix will be eager to find oases where they can cool off.
Arizona water parks and tubing rentals are allowed to reopen after a year of unpredictable guidance from the state on whether they should be open or closed due to COVID-19.
Gov. Doug Ducey announced March 5 that water parks are among the businesses that can operate without the capacity limitations that were imposed in 2020. Water parks and tubing operators had been expected to limit occupancy to 50%.
Other state-ordered COVID-19 precautions still apply. Those include enforcing physical distancing, maintaining water systems and requiring guests to wear face coverings except when in the water or eating or drinking.
