LBI REGION, NJ - The Pinelands Commission oversees a local treasure, The Pine Barrens Byway is one of eight such byways formally designated by the state, and the Department of Transportation has designed signage that ties them together through the use of similar color schemes and other visual elements embedded in the personalized logos for each byway. The Pine Barrens Byway, is now a National Scenic Byway. Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton Borough are part of 130 miles of existing roadways in the Southern part of the Pinelands. The byway travels along through Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean Counties, including portions of 16 municipalities. ....

Four of New Jersey s scenic byways have been added to the list of National Scenic Byways, the first additions in more than a decade.
The new designations include the Western Highlands Scenic Byway from Vernon and Hardyston, the Palisades Scenic Byway that runs from New York state through Bergen County, the Pine Barrens Scenic Byway in the center of the state and the Bayshore Heritage Byway in the south.
The four join the Delaware River and Millstone Valley scenic byways already on the national list. ....

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently approved the Battle Road Scenic Byway as an All-American Road as part of the 2021 designations to America’s Byways through the Federal Highway Administration National Scenic Byways Program.
This designation, which constitutes Route 2A, Massachusetts Avenue, is the first All-American Road in Massachusetts. The designation accounts for evidence of intrinsic qualities, demonstration of national or regional significance, overall visitor’s experience and demonstration of long-term sustainability. With this designation comes recognition of the lasting importance of the events of April 1775 in the Greater Boston region. ....
