This legislative package provides critical appropriations for National Security, including for the department of defense, department of veterans atares and department of energys Nuclear Programs and the legislative branch bill. My colleagues, this is the primary constitutional duty of the congress to ensure the safety of the homeland and the American People. This legislation was carefully crafted to meet that responsibility, funding our critical material priorities, supporting veterans and making our borders more secure. Mr. Thornberry mr. Speaker, i want to start by thanking the 63 members of the Armed Services committee, not only for all of their work in putting this bill together but for the seriousness with which they take our duties under the constitution to help provide for the common defense. Our members dont always agree, but were able to work our way through our differences most of the time and think about the larger cause. You might say we sacrifice some of our individual differences or preferences in order to support the men and women who sacrifice so much for us. And i want to thank all the members of the house. And better will simply be doing our jobs. Thats all the American People want from us. I yield back. The speaker pro tempore the gentleman yields back. The gentlelady from new york reserves. The gentleman from kentucky is recognized. Mr. Rogers i yield such time as he may consume to the gentleman from louisiana, mr. Graves. The speaker pro tempore the gentleman is recognized for mr. House that is doing all that we can to ensure that our veterans get timely care and the best care that we can provide them. This is cynical and its shameful and i believe, i believe that the American People can see straight through it. So i hope again, madam chair, that the president will reconsider this position. Because there is no place, no place here in this bill for political gamesmanship when it comes to our military families and our veterans. Thank you. I yield back. The chair the gentleman from pennsylvania reserves. The gentleman from georgia is recognized. At this time i yield three minutes to the gentlewoman from california, ms. Lee, a member of the subcommittee on military construction and Veterans Affairs. The chair the gentlelady from california is recognized for three minutes. Ms. Lee thank you very much, madam chairman.
