This one. This one. There was kind of some argument about, well, which came first . We need to address the Substance Abuse issue before we can make headway on the Mental Health issue. On the flip side, the Mental Health practitioners would say, no, we need to address the depression or what have you before we can really make headway on the Substance Use. And i think what people are really beginning to understand, especially in the last decade, that they have to be treated at the same time and not just treated at the same time in parallel, but treated at the same time in a very integrated fashion. If you google dual disorder, you will see hypertension and diabetes, but you never hear problems in treating those two disorders. I think the reason is doctors, nurses, pharmacists are educated in both, and, very importantly, the money comes out of the same pot. So, so often theres a separate pot for Mental Health money and Substance Abuse money, and it has produced an unnecessary, really divis
To reconvene this wonderful meeting. I told you it was going to be fun today and i wasnt im glad i didnt disappoint. Now we have compliment. Supervisor campos made a few office and the Mayors Office, are they done with presenting. This is item number 1. I want to add one comment. On coit i think it would be great to fill the vacant see and we invite the it Tech Community to apply for thatcy and we invite the it Tech Community to apply for that i think the sooner we do that the better. Colleagues we need to provide new responses for 13 recommendations to the presiding judge. So are there thoughts on any of these suggestions in the matrix . Looks like the updates response from the Mayors Office is been acceptable. I dont know i guess starting with recommendation 4. Recommendation has been implemented and of course as we mentioned theres one other soul coming. I dont know if we should word interest as recommendation as implemented and ongoing. And what . Ongoing. Okay. You only need to sa
The former executive editor len downie was in the newsroom as Katharine Grahams granddaughter announced jeff bezos, the founder of amazon, wasas buying the paper. She read a statement in which she made clear he strongngly subscribes to the journalistic values of the Washington Post. Lets take off the pundit hats. Give me your personal reaction. Lois, you wrote a fine piece for politico. Thank you. My first reaction was shock. I was home, working. I got in the car, and went back to the office. It was a little bit of sadness, and then i thought maybe this is a od thing. Maybehave tried everything. The model needs to be blown up and ybe jeff bezos will bring a fresh eye. Colby, who would have thought the grahams would give up the newspaper . I was the last person to think that. This is the second time the Washington Post rocked my world the first timime was in marc, 1954, when i reported to duty to deliver theewspaper and saw the times herald had been shockers one was a because of the pre
Findings to practitioners in the field of Behavioral Health an issue of concern . Its an issue of concern because, generally speaking, as researchers, weve had a tendency to do this in a oneway street, so that we come into a treatmentwe either design an intervention or we come into a Treatment Organization as experts. We tell them what were going to do or what they should be doing without really consulting with them in terms of what they need, just like what tom said. It really has to be a twoway street. And so, i think what has happened so far, many times, is theresits really two different specialties, if you will, and what the researcher is doing is really not that relevant to whats going on in the field for a variety of reasons. A lot of the clinical trials, for example, have very exclusive criteria, so that the majority of people that a Treatment Agency would see are not included. Thats the first thing. And also, a lot of these studies that produce the evidencebased are done in a s
Analysis from bret baeir. We this is a big deal, congressman. Really since 19967 in the Telecommunications Act of that year which was big sweeping changes, the committee hasnt tackled anything this big since then. How do you plan to focus 31 members tomorrow to try to get the questions you want answered at that hearing . Thats just on the republican side. Its a big committee. Its bigger than just facebook. How people profit from your personal data goes well beyond facebook. Well be looking at this over time. But tomorrow it is about facebook. It is about Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of this great innovative company. But what happened along the way . What were peoples expectations . What were the agreements . Did they keep their side of the bargain . These are the trust questions i think American Consumers have. Our job is to put consumers first and make sure these Big Companies do what they say they were going to do. If not, did they find the tune or need for some sort of Public Policy
