I know we've talked about the rental car shortage already, but it's still going on and this column has some alternatives in case you need to rent a car and you don't want to pay exorbitant rental prices. Because you don't. One option is car sharing, where you use an app and rent some private citizen's car, and that's a topic itself, whether you'd let someone rent your car while you're not using it. It's something you may never notice, but one guy, a Burger King customer in Houston, did and alerted a local TV news department, which ran this piece on how, when you order a meal at some fast food places, they do a subtle upsell: they'll ask you if you want a medium or large soda, and not a small.
