Ocoee senior Ma’kala Davis reached her state championship goal with a dramatic victory in the FHSAA Class 4A finals and is the Orlando Sentinel track and field girls athlete of the year for the 2023 season. She won the triple jump on her fourth and final attempt at the state meet at UNF. State champions Ava Wyant of The Master’s Academy and Kylie Neira of DeLand join Davis on the All-Area .

On Sunday, the Central Black Student Union hosted the Black Illini Fest event at the SDRP and the ARC from noon to 6 p.m., bringing together Black entrepreneurs, students and RSOs. The event consisted of a pop-up shop where Black businesses showcased their products and services, a basketball tournament hosted by the Men of Impact.
