But it also provides every modern convenience, having undergone a four-year extensive reconstruction and restoration in the early 2000s after a fire in April 2002.
Originally designed by renowned architect Sir Ernest Newton, the listing notes that the house is mentioned by 20th-century art historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.
