Australian Charts: Amy Shark 'Cry Forever' Is The Number One Album

The second album for local singer Amy Shark called “Cry Forever” becomes her second No.1 Album in Australia this week.
“Cry Forever” (Wonderlick/Sony) becomes the 915th No.1 Album in Australia (1965 to 2021), the 765th for ARIA (1983 to 2021), the 15th No.1 set for 2021, the 551st to debut at the top and also the second for the record label Wonderlick, as Amy’s debut album “Love Monster” spent a week at No.1 on July 23rd, 2018.
The new No.1 album is the first to feature the word ‘Cry’ in its title (the previous highest was Carrie Underwood with “Cry Pretty” HP-4, Sept 2018), while the word ‘Forever’ has appeared once before at the top, Paula Abdul’s first album “Forever Your Girl”, which spent a single week at the top during this week in 1990, (May 13th, 1990, 31 years ago).

Julia Stone on working with St Vincent and changing her sound: 'This feels like a first record' | Australian music

Sixty Summers is not actually Stone’s first solo release; there was The Memory Machine in 2010 and By The Horns in 2012. But, she says, “[those albums] felt like songs that I could have put on an Angus & Julia record. And this feels like a first record.”
Stone’s reinvention has been a long time coming. She and her brother never intended to be a double act – they only paired up because their aunt, music industry veteran Cathy Oates, suggested they put out an EP together. That release, Chocolate & Cigarettes, was an immediate hit that sealed their future. But collaboration didn’t come naturally.

Zombie - The Cranberries
I remember going to the Warringah Mall, I must have been 12 or 13, at a time when CD stores were huge. They used to have the top 20 CDs next
to each other. I went in not knowing very much about popular music and I just wanted to get the number one CD. I didn't know who The Cranberries were and I didn't know what kind of music I was buying, but I wanted that CD.

Watch Julia Stone cover The National in a set filmed at a historical Australian prison

Julia Stone performs live from Old Castlemaine Gaol in Victoria
Julia Stone has shared a new live-streamed performance filmed at a historical (and non-operational) prison in Australia.
From Old Castlemaine Gaol in Victoria, Stone and her band opened the performance by reprising her cover of The National‘s ‘Bloodbuzz Ohio’. The singer-songwriter released a studio version of her rendition on 2012 album ‘By the Horns’.
Among other songs from her back catalogue, Stone also played the four singles that have been released thus far from her forthcoming album ‘Sixty Summers’, which arrives in April. Those songs were ‘Dance’, ‘Unreal’, ‘Break’ and ‘We All Have’, her recent collaboration with The National frontman Matt Berninger.
