ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that the early completion of CPEC related projects would bring unprecedented socio-economic progress in the country. “The incumbent government is resolved to strengthen its ties with China on the basis of mutual cooperation and progress,” he expressed these views while meeting with Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong, who called on him here on Wednesday.
Asad Qaiser also remarked that Pak-China friendship is ever lasting and is based on mutual trust and cooperation in every socio-economic field. He stressed on increasing parliamentary diplomacy between both countries.
He also invited chairman National People’s Congress of China to attend a seminar to highlight the benefits of CPEC which would be organised in Lahore. He said that such seminars would be organised all across the country, including four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of National Accountability Bureau, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, said on Sunday corruption is a technique adopted to bypass the rule of law and that engulfed the whole system into socio-economic turmoil.
Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said the NAB’s effective Awareness and Prevention Strategy has started yielding excellent results, which was appreciated by the World Economic Forum in order to make aware people about the ill effects of corruption. “Furthermore, corruption, being the root cause of almost all evils, gives birth to multifarious problems, including nepotism, favoritism and negating meritocracy, transparency and accountability,” he said in a statement on Sunday. The chairman said due to the initiatives taken by the NAB, eradication of corruption has become the voice of the entire nation. “Transparency International Pakistan has also appreciated NAB’s performance whereas the survey conducted by Gilani and Gallop, 59 percent people have shown trust in NAB,” he said.

FAISALABAD: Speakers at a seminar have demanded equal rights for the women at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on the International Women’s Day.
The UAF faculty and students also took out a rally and arranged a seminar to mark the International Women’s Day. The rally was taken out from Admin Block and culminated at Iqbal Auditorium, which was led by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Tanveer. Addressing the participants, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Tanveer said that no society make the progress without active participation of women in the socio-economic development. He said that women could play a vital role in the development and overall increase in the GDP of the country. The founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, said. Faculty of Food Nutrition and Homes Sciences Dean Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that unluckily in men’s dominant society, women were deprived of their rights. He said that the government was committed to provide them their due rights and empower them so that challenges of the modern era could e met.

Socio-economic development linked to interfaith harmony

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Speakers at a workshop here on Sunday stressed the need for promoting interfaith harmony for the socioeconomic development of society.
The two-day workshop was organized by Pakistan Institution of Peace Studies (PIPS) at a hotel here.
A large number of students attended the workshop. The first day session of the workshop was moderated by the resource persons Muhammad Aamir Rana and Mujtaba Rathor.
The speakers underlined the need for creating awareness about the importance of the interfaith harmony among the students and other segments of the society.
The workshop participants also discussed cultural diversity and its role in the promotion of interfaith harmony.
