Coronavirus – Wed Dec 2, 2020
A group of 31 police officers are facing £200 Covid-19 fines for getting their hair cut by a barber while on duty at a police station.
The Metropolitan Police said that the officers all had trims from a professional hairdresser at Bethnal Green police station on January 17.
They are all facing £200 fines and the two officers that organised the event are under investigation for potential misconduct.
Local policing commander Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett said: “It is deeply disappointing and frustrating that my officers have fallen short of the expectation to uphold Covid-19 regulations.
“Although officers donated money to charity as part of the haircut, this does not excuse them from what was a very poor decision. I expect a lot more of them.

LONDON: Nine Metropolitan Police officers have been fined £200 each for breaching Covid-19 regulations for eating in a cafe while on duty, Scotland Yard has said.

Under current rules, cafes and restaurants are only allowed to provide a takeaway service. The nine officers were issued fixed penalty notices of £200 following an investigation by the force.

9 London Police Officers Fined for Dining in Local Cafe
Nine Metropolitan Police officers have been fined after they were caught dining in a local café, the Met said on Wednesday.
The officers from the South East Basic Command Unit (BCU) have been issued with a £200 ($274) fixed penalty notice (FPN) each for “breaching COVID-19 legislation while on duty,” the Met said in a statement.
The officers were investigated after photos of them in the café emerged online and caught media attention earlier this month.
“Police officers are tasked with enforcing the legislation that has been introduced to stop the spread of the virus and the public rightly expect that they will set an example through their own actions,” Chief Superintendent Rob Atkin, South East BCU Commander, said.

Police caught flouting lockdown with café breakfast fined

Nine police officers who were spotted flouting Covid lockdown restrictions as they enjoyed breakfast inside a Greenwich café have been fined.
Photos emerged earlier this month of several police cars parked outside The Chef House Kitchen Café, as officers inside dined despite law currently banning restaurants from operating table service.
Following an investigation, the Met determined the South East Basic Command Unit officers should be issued with fixed penalty notices of £200 each.
Chief Superintendent Rob Atkin, South East BCU Commander, said: “Police officers are tasked with enforcing the legislation that has been introduced to stop the spread of the virus and the public rightly expect that they will set an example through their own actions.

Deptford: firearms seized after 'social media threats'

Firearms seized in Deptford as police trace man making threats on social media
Three suspected firearms were seized from a Deptford hotel room after a household was allegedly threatened on social media.
Officers were called to a Plumstead address shortly after 9pm on Sunday, after the occupiers reported they had been contacted by a man known to them who made threats over a social media app, showing them a firearm.
An immediate operation began to trace the individual, who was suspected to be staying in a hotel somewhere in south east London.
A possible location of the man was established through enquires and an operation put in place involving firearms officers.
