Man charged with fatal Aurora shooting held on $1 million bond By STMW NEWS AURORA, Ill. - An Aurora man was charged with two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly driving the vehicle used in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man last week in the western suburb. Ivan Valles, 20, was ordered held on $1 million bond Tuesday in connection with the murder of Fernando Carapia about 4:45 p.m. Friday, Aurora police said. Kane County prosecutors say Valles drove to Carapia’s home in the 300 block of South Spencer Street, where someone jumped out of the vehicle and shot him to death. ....

Aurora police Facebook photo Several people were taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with police which was sparked by a fatal shooting Friday in suburban Aurora. Officers responded to the shooting about 4:45 p.m. in the 300 block of South Spencer Street and found a man with gunshot wounds, Aurora police said in a statement. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. “Several neighbors and witnesses in the area provided key information and video evidence to officers, which allowed investigators to obtain a search warrant for a resident in the 700 block of South Spencer Street,” police said. ....

A Special Response Team executed the search warrant on a home there about 1 a.m. Saturday, police said. Officers knocked on the door and told the residents to come out but they did not exit immediately. Over the next two hours, five men, one woman and three children came out of the home, police said. However, there were still two people inside, police said, and a negotiator was called to the scene but was also unsuccessful in getting them out. ....

According to officials, at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday Aurora Police s Special Response Team executed the search warrant. Police said officers knocked on the door and made numerous announcements for anyone inside the home to exit immediately, but no occupants complied. Police said over the subsequent two hours, five adult men, one adult female and three children exited the home. Nearly three hours after SRT members arrived at the home, some people inside the home continue to refuse to come out the home. Just after 3:45 a.m., SRT members made entry into the home and took the remaining two people inside the home into custody, officials said. An infant was also found inside the house. ....
