In this Article While Bezos didn’t quite hit the heights of past NASA astronauts, he was spotted wearing a very appropriate wristwatch — the space-ready OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch. This particular Speedy ref. 310.30.42.50.01.001 was given to the crew by OMEGA where it had a number of custom features added to it like a custom strap (referencing the velcro version worn over the large cuffs of NASA spacesuits), and an engraved caseback with the crew member’s name, flight number, and Blue Origin feather insignia. The watch itself, without any of the custom work, retails for $6,300 USD, and is a staple watch for any collector. While this watch didn’t make it to the moon, it is still pretty cool to see the Blue Orgin crew rock a watch that has such a history in space exploration.

Monday 5 April 2021 Whether you have invested thousands or merely hundreds on a mechanical watch, it will need looking after. When you buy a car, you automatically factor in the cost of regular servicing, but oddly this is practically never the case for watch purchases. If it’s not digital or quartz powered, a watch is essentially a mechanism made of metal parts that move against each other or are under tension. These parts need to be lubricated to reduce wear. Worse still, worn parts can damage others, so, for the cavalier watch fan, you get to the point that once there’s a problem then the damage is already done.

Head-To-Head: Omega Speedmaster 60th Anniversary Vs. Speedmaster Calibre 321 Comments Share When Omega introduced the Speedmaster 60th Anniversary in 2017, it was a big thing! It was a tribute to the original Speedmaster reference CK2915, but with the calibre 1861 movement. Then, in 2020, Omega introduced the 105.003 tribute with its calibre 321. How do these two watches compare? Is it worth going after a Speedmaster 60th anniversary, or do you want to save up a bit more for the Speedmaster Calibre 321? After publishing our video where I compare the Speedmaster Calibre 321 with the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Master Chronometer, I received some requests to have a look at the Speedmaster 60th anniversary as well. And then, last week in the #SpeedyTuesday Facebook group, someone (Markus) asked us to do a head-to-head between the Calibre 321 and the 60th Anniversary. So, why not? I am lucky enough to own both watches, so all it took was a proper photoshoot and some time to study and compare both watches side-by-side. Without further ado, let’s have a closer look.
