the closer we get to port-au-prince, the more signs of the quake. women and babies, sleeping outdoors. the first thing you notice driving into haiti is how few cars are coming out of that country. there's no line of refugees at the border gate. no one clamoring to get out. that's probably because so many are trapped in the capital city with little means to escape by road. we talk our way through several border checkpoints. and then, just up the road, notice a crowd gathered around a truck that was swallowed up by a wall of sand when the earthquake hit. there were three trucks working...
