A bill making its way through the state legislature wants to double the fines for protesters who block highways and freeways. Its gaining bipartisan support in the state capitol. But not all across the state. Across for sara stinson joins us live in the studio after speaking with the Assembly Woman who introduced the bill as well as civil rights activists against it. Sarah. Yeah, this bill is proposing to increase fines for protesters every time theyre convicted of blocking traffic on highways, hopes to deter them from doing it again. But civil rights advocates tell me tougher penalties will not stop people.
