According to a press release, multiple site investigations were conducted by OSHA. The administration cited the companies for exposing the workers to falls and other safety hazards. OSHA initiated three of the inspections as part of its Regional Emphasis Program on Falls in Construction. After multiple on-site investigations, the U.S. Department of Labor s Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited the companies for exposing workers to falls and other dangerous safety hazards while erecting walls and sheathing roofs. During the first on Oct. 20, 2020, the compliance officer observed workers exposed to falls and other hazards. Recognizing that falls are the leading cause of injury and hospitalization among older adults in Canada, the Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) has implemented use of a new fall risk screening checklist. Patients aged 65 and older who visit the emergency department or have appointments in diagnostic imaging and in the clinics can expect to receive the Stop Falls Staying Independent Checklist which they will be asked to complete in order to assess their risk of falling. The checklist, which patients will be asked to fill out while they wait for their appointments, consists of a self-assessment questionnaire. Their results will be reviewed with a member of the health care team while they are at the hospital and if they are deemed to be at risk for falls they will be asked to share the assessment with their primary care physician and continue the conversation. ....
