The idea was realized in a collaborative research effort of TU Berlin, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and Josef Gartner GmbH that resulted in a full-scale mock-up of a Double‑Skin Facade.
A report by an expert committee has suggested that in new sectors, such building plans can be allowed provided adequate infrastructure is developed, while in old sectors, an audit of existing infrastructure should be conducted before granting permission.
Officials said that the expenses of the audit will be borne jointly by the respective residents’ welfare association and the builder concerned.
The panel says adequate infrastructure should be in place for approval of such building plans. A final decision on the committee’s report is yet to be taken by the state government.
